Green Bay Packers

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Packers: B.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Evan Anderson; the Packers did not wait, grabbing him 63 spots ahead at slot 219.

The Fautanu steal is the beam this whole class leans on. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Rome Odunze · WR · rank 9
In the 25th overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 26
The board fumbled Cooper DeJean all the way to pick 47, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Troy Fautanu · OT · rank 22
Troy Fautanu in the 58th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 89
No drama and no debate, Dominick Puni went about where he belonged in pick No. 88. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Renardo Green · S · rank 78
They read the board right and Renardo Green was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 28. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 113
Cedric Gray at the Round 4 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R5.5 · Pick 141 · Jarvis Brownlee Jr. · CB · rank 112
Circle this one: Jarvis Brownlee Jr. at the 141st overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Mason McCormick · OT · rank 146
Somehow Mason McCormick was still sitting there in pick No. 169, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Jaylan Ford · LB · rank 205
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylan Ford at No. 202, value and slot in agreement. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Evan Anderson · DL · rank 282
They reached a country mile for Evan Anderson at slot 219, and the board is aghast. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Frank Gore Jr. · RB · rank 226
Frank Gore Jr. in the Round 7 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Edefuan Ulofoshio · LB · rank 236
Steal is underselling it; Edefuan Ulofoshio at the 255th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
