The Packers torched the value chart for Al Blades Jr., taking him 55 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The Bullard pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, wide receiver and other spots. Landing Orhorhoro that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Kamren Kinchens went about where he belonged in the 36th pick. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They went early on Jackson Powers-Johnson in Round 2, Pick 9, and the value did not follow. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Edgerrin Cooper. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback, wide receiver and other spots to take Javon Bullard, a safety that was not the priority.
Ruke Orhorhoro at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Darius Robinson. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jaylen Wright at No. 125 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached into another round for Roger Rosengarten, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Isaiah Davis in the 203rd pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reach on J.J. Weaver in pick 217; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A big swing on Dwight McGlothern at pick No. 219, well ahead of any board in the building. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Al Blades Jr. in the Round 7 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
