You can hear the double-takes from here. The Packers took Xavier Thomas at pick 219, roughly 36 spots before his name belonged. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

The Smith pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, wide receiver and other spots. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Speights.

Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
