This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Trevor Keegan, the No. 144 name on the board, stolen at the 188th pick. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a press-man option on the boundary. The biggest hole, addressed.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, T'Vondre Sweat at slot 59. It fills a real need, too.
They took Dominick Puni at par in No. 87, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
James Williams in the Round 4 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They will replay Isaiah Davis at pick 174 for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Trevor Keegan at the 188th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Grayson Murphy at the 216th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They paid sticker price for Tayvion Robinson in pick No. 233, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Trey Knox in the 244th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
