Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Packers came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
That Lloyd pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 8 they get a long-term starter on the line. A clean fit for the roster.
In the Round 1 slot they get a weapon on the perimeter, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at Round 2, Pick 26 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Benson. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Max Melton at the 91st pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Taking MarShawn Lloyd in the 126th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
