The trade table was a mismatch, and the 49ers were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. However the rest shakes out, Davis at that price is a win they earned.
Every board in the league had Allen lower, and that gap is the story.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a centerfielder for the defense at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Akheem Mesidor in pick 36 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Tacario Davis at the 127th overall pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Kaytron Allen in slot 133 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Trey Zuhn III at the Round 4 slot is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good price on Kaleb Proctor in the 139th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No drama and no debate, Matt Gulbin went about where he belonged in pick No. 176. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
