Somebody took the Lions to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.
Cooper at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They are betting Sinnott proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 29 they get a difference-maker at receiver. A real need, handled.
Zach Frazier at the 54th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Edgerrin Cooper in Round 3, Pick 4 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Steal is underselling it; Austin Booker at slot 96 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Ben Sinnott well ahead of where he belonged. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Dwight McGlothern in pick No. 164 lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A conviction pick on Garret Greenfield at slot 201 that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A reach on Javontae Jean-Baptiste in Round 6, Pick 30; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
