There is conviction, and then there is this. The Lions took Bryce Foster a full 46 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. A mixed bag that lands at C+.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Muhammad steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
So much rides on Gennings Dunker that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 17 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Mike Washington Jr.. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They will replay Malik Muhammad at pick 118 for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Fair-plus on Jack Endries, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No edge and no loss on Beau Stephens in slot 157; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jalen Stroman well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Bryce Foster at the 205th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Keyshaun Elliott at No. 213 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
They paid a round early for Xavier Nwankpa in the Round 7 slot, more than the board wanted. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
