You could see the war room lean forward. Malik Muhammad at the 141st overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. No fireworks, but a solid B.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
The board had cheaper options than Monroe Freeling at pick No. 12, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Chris Brazzell II in the Round 1 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Kenyon Sadiq at Round 2, Pick 7 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A straight-up fair deal on Malachi Fields at the 70th pick, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick 107 is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Steal is underselling it; Jacob Rodriguez at the 112th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Malik Muhammad at slot 141 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jalen Farmer at No. 146 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They barely believed it either: Bryce Lance still on the board at Round 5, Pick 9. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Rayshaun Benny slipping to the 165th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Circle this one: Domani Jackson at No. 206 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
DJ Campbell in the 220th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on De'Zhaun Stribling. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
