Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
If Sinnott pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. The Clark steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
Drake Maye at pick No. 3 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Guyton at Round 2, Pick 2 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Junior Colson at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ben Sinnott this early at slot 104. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Javon Foster in the 136th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They reached a country mile for JD Bertrand at pick 182, and the board is aghast. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, De'Corian Clark at No. 229. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
