The rest of the league will want that one back. Cameron Ward tumbling to the Cowboys in pick 94 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They will need Cypress II to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
You do not let a quarterback like Cameron Ward reach Round 3, Pick 30 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A wild overpay on Donovan Edwards in pick 117, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They liked Jaydn Ott enough to skip the value, taking him in the 126th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Fentrell Cypress II at slot 158 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They reached into another round for Tony Grimes, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
Deshawn Pace at No. 213 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They did well to land Shawn Murphy in the 222nd pick, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
