The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Cowboys spent their marquee pick on Quinn Ewers, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
That Edwards pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Quinn Ewers and all.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get their quarterback of the future at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
They will replay Donovan Edwards at pick No. 141 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Zach Rice. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Billy Bowman Jr. in No. 186 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They paid sticker price for Justin Walley in slot 203, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Zy Alexander at the 205th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
