The board owed the Chiefs one, and it paid up: Jordan James, the No. 123 name on the board, sitting there at the 216th pick like a gift left on the doorstep. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Tyler Booker in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They will replay Malaki Starks at the 61st overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Circle this one: Barrett Carter at No. 132 is a fall that decides a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They let Willie Lampkin come to them and pounced at Round 6, Pick 17. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Steal is underselling it; Jordan James at slot 216 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
