The Chiefs did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jordan Jefferson fell into the 210th overall pick.
For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Rouse reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Brenden Rice at the 64th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Matt Goncalves at No. 95 is a conviction pick that outran the value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No edge and no loss on Daijun Edwards in pick No. 133; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
No drama and no debate, Edefuan Ulofoshio went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kitan Oladapo in slot 172. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Jordan Jefferson in pick 210 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
Walter Rouse at the 250th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
