A costly weekend of dealing drags the Patriots to a C.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Patriots did exactly that with Kingsley Eguakun in pick 184. Call it a C and check back in two years.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The Coleman steal is the beam this whole class leans on. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The Patriots indulged a want in Stover while a need in edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots stayed open.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Kingsley Suamataia in pick 34 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
They robbed the room for Keon Coleman here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots to take Cade Stover, a TE-EDGE that was not the priority.
A tidy bit of business in No. 104, where Cam Hart graded well above the range. A minor itch, scratched.
Joe Milton III at pick No. 108 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They read the board right and Johnny Wilson was the payoff at pick No. 136. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A big swing on Jawhar Jordan at slot 182, well ahead of any board in the building. The roster fit checks out.
Kingsley Eguakun at Round 6, Pick 9 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Value said wait; Carson Steele in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
