For all the boxes ticked, the Cowboys skipped the loudest one: wide receiver is exactly as bare as it was.

Landing Gray that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
