When a board-topper like Ja'Tavion Sanders slides to slot 64, you do not overthink it, and the Chiefs did not. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The offensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 32 they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Taking Ja'Tavion Sanders in the Round 2 slot is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Circle this one: Max Melton at pick No. 95 is a fall that decides a draft. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Fair-plus on Johnny Wilson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Kalen King in the 159th pick, plain and simple. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Value with a capital V on Tykee Smith in the 173rd overall pick, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
