The Dolphins spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: De'Corian Clark, the No. 212 name on the board, in pick 239.
The Raym pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Value with a capital V on Tyler Guyton in Round 2, Pick 16, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Patrick Paul at No. 53 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Christian Mahogany at the Round 3 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Nelson Ceaser. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Javion Cohen at slot 152 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
No drama and no debate, Khristian Boyd went about where he belonged in the 155th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Andrew Raym well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They liked Kingsley Eguakun enough to skip the value, taking him in the 227th pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
De'Corian Clark at pick 239 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
