The Eagles clearly saw something nobody else did in Nadame Tucker, taking him 35 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it.
The Tate steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 18 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end. A real need, handled.
In pick No. 23 they get a difference-maker at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In the Round 1 slot they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker at fair value. More want than need.
A slide stopped in No. 114, with Bud Clark worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
By-the-book stuff, Dametrious Crownover at the 137th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They reached a country mile for Nadame Tucker at Round 4, Pick 39, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Taylen Green in Round 5, Pick 13 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for Keagen Trost in the 178th pick, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jeremiah Wright at No. 197 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
