Some picks age like wine; Sam Hartman at pick No. 202 will need to, sitting 53 spots clear of his grade.
Landing Wallace that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Spending an early pick on safety with wide receiver, tight end and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
Payton Wilson at the 41st pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jaden Hicks in the 58th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A surprising call. With wide receiver, tight end and other spots still to address, they spent pick 99 on Renardo Green, a safety they were not short of.
A tidy little value on Brandon Coleman in pick No. 110, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
A premium they did not need to pay, Jalyx Hunt a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A real head-scratcher, Isaac Guerendo in the 116th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They did well to land Jarrian Jones in the Round 4 slot, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for James Williams. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
They barely believed it either: Caedan Wallace still on the board at Round 5, Pick 33. It fills a real need, too.
They talked themselves into Sam Hartman at pick No. 202, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
