The rest of the league will want that one back. Jaden Hicks tumbling to the Patriots in the 103rd pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The Rattler pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
Hit on Ladd McConkey and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Ladd McConkey went about where he belonged in slot 34. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They took Ja'Tavion Sanders at par in Round 2, Pick 4, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Jordan Morgan in pick No. 40 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Good price on Kiran Amegadjie in the Round 3 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Xavier Worthy at the 68th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Spencer Rattler in pick 100 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
They robbed the room for Jaden Hicks here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Mohamed Kamara at No. 137 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They barely believed it either: Dwight McGlothern still on the board at the 180th overall pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Ro Torrence at slot 193 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
The board had cheaper options than Bub Means at No. 231, and it noticed. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
