Boards are made to be trusted, and the Broncos shredded theirs for Taylen Green. He came off 55 spots early, and the room will hear about it. It lands right in the middle: a C-, no more, no less.
That Klare pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Breece Hall gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick-by-Pick
Eli Stowers at Round 2, Pick 26 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Josiah Trotter in slot 62 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jadarian Price at pick 80 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Max Klare in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 111, where Malik Muhammad graded well above the range. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
By-the-book stuff, Gracen Halton at the 122nd pick squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value said wait; Taylen Green in pick No. 133 says they were not listening. It fills a real need, too.
Caleb Douglas slipping to pick 173 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Logan Taylor at No. 246 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The roster fit checks out.
They reached a country mile for Enrique Cruz Jr. at the 256th overall pick, and the board is aghast. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Dominic Zvada at the 257th pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
