The rest of the league will want that one back. Jaylin Simpson tumbling to the Eagles in slot 189 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Amarius Mims in the 22nd pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Edgerrin Cooper in the 53rd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
No edge and no loss on Chris Braswell in slot 57; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Roman Wilson at pick No. 89. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
By-the-book stuff, Tykee Smith at No. 97 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Good price on Kris Abrams-Draine in Round 4, Pick 26, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Renardo Green at pick 160 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Austin Booker in the Round 5 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They barely believed it either: Dylan Laube still on the board at the Round 5 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Grayson Murphy at pick 178 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A cornerback of that caliber at the 189th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They will replay De'Corian Clark at pick No. 240 for years; that is how good the value is. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
