The Packers treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 88th pick on Jaylen Wright a full 75 spots early. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. The Coleman pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a ballhawk on the outside, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Chop Robinson at the 41st overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Keon Coleman slipping to pick 57 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jaylen Wright at pick No. 88 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Cedric Gray this early at Round 3, Pick 28. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Good price on Sataoa Laumea in the Round 4 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It fills a real need, too.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in the 168th pick. A minor itch, scratched.
A real head-scratcher, Tanor Bortolini in pick 203 is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board had JD Bertrand higher than Round 6, Pick 41, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
They reached a country mile for Isaac Guerendo at slot 243, and the board is aghast. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached into another round for Evan Williams, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
