The Packers went off the board in a big way for Evan Williams, 63 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The Grable pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get an island corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Edgerrin Cooper. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Nothing to complain about; Javon Bullard went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They paid a round early for Roger Rosengarten in Round 3, Pick 25, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No drama and no debate, MarShawn Lloyd went about where he belonged in pick 91. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A wild overpay on Mason McCormick in No. 126, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Evan Williams in slot 169 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
A real head-scratcher, Jacob Monk in the 202nd overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tyrice Knight in pick No. 219. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Circle this one: Tylan Grable at the Round 7 slot is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
LaDarius Henderson at the 255th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
