You could see the war room lean forward. Troy Franklin at Round 2, Pick 25 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
Every board in the league had Richardson lower, and that gap is the story. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A quiet steal in pick No. 42: Tyler Nubin for less than the market said. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board fumbled Troy Franklin all the way to slot 57, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Christian Mahogany is a better player than pick 88 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Good price on McKinnley Jackson in No. 91, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid a round early for Darius Robinson in the 108th pick, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
