When the story of this class is written, it opens with Charles Turner III at the 251st pick, a reach of 73 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The Braswell value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Quinyon Mitchell in the Round 1 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A conviction pick on Jackson Powers-Johnson at the 41st overall pick that the board grades a round light. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No drama and no debate, Edgerrin Cooper went about where he belonged in slot 57. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jonathon Brooks at Round 3, Pick 25 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Circle this one: Chris Braswell at pick 89 is a fall that decides a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jaden Hicks at the 91st pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They reached into another round for Jaylen Wright, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They let Renardo Green come to them and pounced at the Round 5 slot. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Christian Jones at slot 203 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
This one needs a full-page explanation: J.J. Weaver in the 216th pick, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Dwight McGlothern in the 243rd overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They reached a country mile for Charles Turner III at No. 251, and the board is aghast. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Evan Williams this early at pick 255. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
