If confidence were a draft strategy, the Packers would have aced it. Demani Richardson at the Round 6 slot is 29 spots clear of where he belonged.

They banked enough surplus on Bertrand to cover a lot of smaller sins. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Kool-Aid McKinstry · CB · rank 19
In slot 25 they get a ballhawk on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Calen Bullock · S · rank 46
They took Calen Bullock at par in the 41st overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 58
By-the-book stuff, Edgerrin Cooper at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Sedrick Van Pran · C · rank 90
Sedrick Van Pran at Round 3, Pick 25 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Bucky Irving · RB · rank 93
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Bucky Irving. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Sataoa Laumea · OT · rank 122
A reasonable price with a little left over, Sataoa Laumea in No. 125. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 158
They reached into another round for Jaylen Wright, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · J.J. Weaver · LB-EDGE · rank 228
A wild overpay on J.J. Weaver in pick No. 203, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Demani Richardson · S · rank 246
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Demani Richardson well ahead of where he belonged. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · JD Bertrand · LB · rank 195
JD Bertrand in the 219th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Zion Logue · DL · rank 250
Zion Logue in slot 246 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
