Green Bay Packers

No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Packers.

The Packers did not so much draft Zion Logue as overpay for him, 24 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

With quarterback, wide receiver and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.26 · Pick 26 · Chop Robinson · DE-EDGE · rank 38
In No. 26 they get a bendy edge with upside, though they paid up to get him. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Kamren Kinchens · S · rank 37
Kamren Kinchens at the 41st overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 59
Edgerrin Cooper in the 57th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Mike Sainristil · CB · rank 83
They did well to land Mike Sainristil in the Round 3 slot, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.26 · Pick 89 · Marist Liufau · LB · rank 86
A surprising call. With quarterback, wide receiver and other spots still to address, they spent pick 89 on Marist Liufau, a linebacker they were not short of.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Ray Davis · RB · rank 109
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ray Davis this early at pick No. 91. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Sataoa Laumea · OT · rank 120
Sataoa Laumea in pick No. 125 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 154
Jaylen Wright in the Round 4 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Myles Jones · CB · rank 204
No drama and no debate, Myles Jones went about where he belonged in pick 203. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R6.29 · Pick 204 · Omar Speights · LB · rank 201
Omar Speights in slot 204 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Zion Logue · DL · rank 241
A big swing on Zion Logue at No. 217, well ahead of any board in the building. The roster fit checks out.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Mark Perry · S · rank 235
They liked Mark Perry enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 6, Pick 44. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Walter Rouse · OT · rank 248
They paid sticker price for Walter Rouse in the 246th overall pick, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
