Nobody had Al Blades Jr. this high, and it is not close. The Packers reached 45 spots to get him at pick No. 246. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Wiggins steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 41 with a little surplus value in Kamren Kinchens. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
No drama and no debate, Edgerrin Cooper went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 25. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A straight-up fair deal on Zak Zinter at No. 88, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
By-the-book stuff, Audric Estime at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on Javon Foster in the 125th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jaylen Wright well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Omar Speights. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Stefon Thompson in slot 217 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
Jaden Crumedy in the 219th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. The roster logic is harder to follow.
Al Blades Jr. at No. 246 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
