The trade table was a mismatch, and the Cowboys were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
The Barrett pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a long-term starter on the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
By-the-book stuff, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 56th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A tidy bit of business in the 87th overall pick, where Christian Haynes graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Tyler Davis slid further than he should have, and the Round 4 slot is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Nice patience on Jarvis Brownlee Jr., who had no business lasting to slot 125. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Taking Michael Barrett in pick 213 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
