The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Cowboys reached some 92 spots for Trajan Jeffcoat, and value like that does not grow back. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The Washington steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a blindside protector. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They talked themselves into Blake Corum at the 62nd overall pick, and the board did not agree. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A slide stopped in Round 5, Pick 4, with Johnny Wilson worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Circle this one: Kitan Oladapo at pick 174 is a fall that decides a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They will replay Mason McCormick at the Round 6 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trajan Jeffcoat in slot 216, miles early. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Taulia Tagovailoa at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A need, and now a little less of one.
You do not let a wide receiver like Tahj Washington reach the 244th pick and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
JD Bertrand in pick 250 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
