Nobody had Aaron Lewis this high, and it is not close. The Cowboys reached 53 spots to get him at pick No. 245.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback. The Odunze value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get a weapon on the perimeter, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Edgerrin Cooper at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid a round early for Audric Estime in slot 87, more than the board wanted. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They reached into another round for Kitan Oladapo, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Jordan Magee in pick 174 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Aaron Lewis. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
