This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Tyler Nubin, the No. 30 name on the board, stolen at No. 64. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. They are betting Capehart proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The Solomon pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with wide receiver, offensive lineman and other spots still on the board. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Byron Murphy II at pick 32 is the proof. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Nubin at the Round 2 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They bypassed pressing needs at wide receiver, offensive lineman and other spots to take Javon Solomon, an OLB-EDGE that was not the priority.
Ben Sinnott in slot 133 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaylen Wright. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nothing to complain about; Kitan Oladapo went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Michael Barrett in No. 210, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
DeMonte Capehart at Round 7, Pick 30 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
