Every other box got a look, but tight end did not. The Chiefs will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
Every board in the league had Jones lower, and that gap is the story. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 32 they get a home-run threat at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Patrick Paul at pick 64, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Christian Mahogany in the 95th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid a round early for Jarrian Jones in the Round 4 slot, more than the board wanted. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
No edge and no loss on Grayson Murphy in slot 158; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Khristian Boyd. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
