Everything else got attention, and tight end got none. That is a strange way for the Chiefs to leave a draft. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Jones falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. A real need, handled.
Patrick Paul in No. 64 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Christian Mahogany at slot 95 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Johnny Wilson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jarrian Jones is a better player than Round 5, Pick 23 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A minor itch, scratched.
Walter Rouse at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
