The one they had to fix is still broken. The Chiefs left tight end untouched, and that omission hangs over an otherwise reasonable haul. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They will need Rouse to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The Mims pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a plug-and-play piece up front, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Xavier Worthy at the 64th overall pick is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They did well to land Khyree Jackson in the 88th pick, just ahead of his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Good price on Johnny Wilson in No. 133, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They jumped the gun on Walter Rouse, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Khristian Boyd in pick No. 172; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
