You build a draft on nights like this. Tre Harris had no business being available in Round 7, Pick 32, and the Chiefs did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Isaiah Bond at pick 40, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Kenneth Grant in pick No. 64 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Jabbar Muhammad in slot 69, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Tez Johnson at Round 3, Pick 8 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Oscar Delp at No. 96 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They barely believed it either: Wyatt Milum still on the board at the 128th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jordan Hancock in the Round 5 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
The board fumbled Jonah Monheim all the way to the 193rd pick, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let a wide receiver like Tre Harris reach slot 224 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
