The Cowboys clearly saw something nobody else did in Jahvaree Ritzie, taking him 46 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 12 they get a three-down runner, outstanding value to boot.
The board fumbled Jalon Walker all the way to the 44th overall pick, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Donovan Jackson at the 76th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A slide stopped in No. 113, with Cam Skattebo worth more than the price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They robbed the room for Tommi Hill here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tidy little value on Jack Nelson in slot 174, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at Round 6, Pick 12 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A big swing on Jahvaree Ritzie at pick No. 211, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
LaJohntay Wester in the 229th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
