The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Patriots watched T.J. Sanders slide 205 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. The Patriots clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Travis Hunter in No. 39 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
You do not let a running back like Ashton Jeanty reach Round 2, Pick 12 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Somehow Harold Fannin Jr. was still sitting there in pick No. 80, and they pounced on premier tight end value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Tate Ratledge in the Round 4 slot, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Colston Loveland at the 221st overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: Josaiah Stewart still on the board at the 223rd pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Steal is underselling it; T.J. Sanders at slot 235 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
