Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
On value alone, Fashanu makes the weekend a net positive. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
Drake Maye in pick 5 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a blindside protector at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Xavier Legette in pick No. 34 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Xavier Worthy in slot 68. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid sticker price for Patrick Paul in the 69th overall pick, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No edge and no loss on Javon Baker in No. 90; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
