Thirty-one other rooms let Nathan Thomas slide, and the Eagles were the ones holding the card at pick 250. Highway robbery.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. They will need Magee to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get a press-man option on the boundary. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Edgerrin Cooper at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A clean, defensible pick in the 53rd overall pick with a little surplus value in Roman Wilson. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Tyler Davis in No. 120 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No drama and no debate, Tykee Smith went about where he belonged in pick No. 161. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dillon Johnson. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Value with a capital V on Walter Rouse in the 171st pick, a genuine coup. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Braiden McGregor at pick 172 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A straight-up fair deal on Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at pick 197, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jordan Magee at the 210th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
A tidy little value on Sheridan Jones in the 225th overall pick, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They robbed the room for Nathan Thomas here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Kalen DeLoach at No. 253 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It fills a real need, too.
