This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Marcus Harris, the No. 153 name on the board, stolen at Round 6, Pick 19. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
If Nate Wiggins and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Edgerrin Cooper at pick No. 50, value and slot in agreement. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Nice patience on Chris Braswell, who had no business lasting to the 53rd overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They read the board right and Will Shipley was the payoff at No. 120. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board had Matt Goncalves higher than pick 126, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Trevor Keegan at the Round 5 slot is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
Malik Mustapha at the 171st pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
You do not let a tight end like Dallin Holker reach Round 5, Pick 36 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A edge rusher of that caliber at the Round 6 slot is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Johnny Dixon at slot 202 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Taking Jha'Quan Jackson in pick 210 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Somehow Fabien Lovett was still sitting there in pick No. 214, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Tayvion Robinson in the 253rd pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
