The trade table was where it all came apart. The Eagles shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. On value alone, Dixon makes the weekend a net positive.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 22 they get a potential shutdown corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
No drama and no debate, Xavier Worthy went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 18. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They did well to land Edgerrin Cooper in the 53rd pick, just ahead of his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
The board had Will Shipley higher than the 120th overall pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
Somehow Beau Brade was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier safety value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They let Walter Rouse come to them and pounced at slot 171. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They took AJ Barner at par in No. 172, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Value with a capital V on Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in the 210th pick, a genuine coup. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Taking Johnny Dixon in pick 225 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Michael Barrett in the Round 7 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
