Dallas Cowboys

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Cowboys: B.

The Cowboys spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jalen Coker, the No. 211 name on the board, in the 244th pick.

Reaching for Gore Jr. left real value on the table behind him. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The trade work was a quiet net positive.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.24 · Pick 24 · Jackson Powers-Johnson · C · rank 30
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a building block for the line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 65
Cooper Beebe in No. 58 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.24 · Pick 87 · Patrick Paul · OT · rank 85
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Patrick Paul. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 113
Braelon Allen in the 126th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Jaylin Simpson · CB · rank 158
The board had Jaylin Simpson higher than the Round 5 slot, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.38 · Pick 174 · Ryan Flournoy · WR · rank 195
They reached into another round for Ryan Flournoy, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 207
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Nathaniel Watson in pick No. 216. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.13 · Pick 233 · Frank Gore Jr. · RB · rank 268
They left a pile of value on the table to take Frank Gore Jr. this early at pick 233. It fills a real need, too.
R7.24 · Pick 244 · Jalen Coker · WR · rank 211
Circle this one: Jalen Coker at the 244th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
