If you want a masterclass in dealing, watch the Browns, who turned every swap into a profit this weekend. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They banked enough surplus on Slaughter to cover a lot of smaller sins.
The Browns clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a ballhawk on the back end. A clean fit for the roster.
They let Denzel Boston come to them and pounced at pick 39. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Emmanuel Pregnon at the 54th pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. The roster fit checks out.
Jake Slaughter in slot 78 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
Dametrious Crownover at pick No. 146 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Charles Demmings in the 149th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Dallen Bentley at slot 206 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Luke Altmyer in the Round 7 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
