Every other box got a look, but edge rusher did not. The Eagles will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
Ford has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The DeJean value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a lockdown presence outside at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jermaine Burton at the 54th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
T'Vondre Sweat in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Tykee Smith at pick 97 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They did well to land Audric Estime in No. 101, just ahead of his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A clean, defensible pick in the 137th pick with a little surplus value in James Williams. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reach on Jaylan Ford in slot 163; the board had better options right there. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Julian Pearl at pick No. 172 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Trey Knox at pick No. 178 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A straight-up fair deal on Matthew Jones at the 243rd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
