Call it belief, call it a gut call, but AJ Barner at slot 140 is 32 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They went early on Kris Jenkins in No. 37, and the value did not follow. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Braden Fiske at pick No. 47 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They let Kamren Kinchens come to them and pounced at the Round 3 slot. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They took Braelon Allen at par in the 105th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Johnny Wilson at the 118th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
AJ Barner in pick No. 140 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A tidy little value on JD Bertrand in No. 225, a step better than break-even. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
