Call it larceny. Germie Bernard sat on the board until No. 101, and the Titans did not need to be asked twice. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. It is not that Cisse is a bad player; it is that the Titans had louder needs to answer first. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Arvell Reese at Round 1, Pick 18 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
In the Round 1 slot they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Fair-plus on Chris Johnson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A minor itch, scratched.
Dillon Thieneman slipping to pick No. 49 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A want over a need in the 66th overall pick: Brandon Cisse adds a cornerback while quarterback keeps waiting.
Somehow Germie Bernard was still sitting there in pick 101, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Billy Schrauth went about where he belonged in the 112th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They did well to land Joe Royer in slot 127, just ahead of his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Bryce Lance at pick 133. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Parker Brailsford in Round 4, Pick 38 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Dametrious Crownover in the 142nd pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kaytron Allen in slot 144 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They read the board right and Isaiah World was the payoff at No. 152. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tanner Koziol at pick No. 184 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Zane Durant reach the Round 6 slot and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A quiet steal in the 218th overall pick: Toriano Pride Jr. for less than the market said. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Chase Roberts in slot 225 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
