The trade table was a mismatch, and the Bears were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
Every board in the league had Stukes lower, and that gap is the story. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The Hecht pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 26 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker. A real need, handled.
A reach for Derrick Moore in Round 2, Pick 17; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nothing to complain about; Christen Miller went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Treydan Stukes well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nicholas Singleton at slot 91 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Sam Hecht at pick 97 is the proof. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Tacario Davis at the 112th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jeff Caldwell at pick No. 175 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Miles Kitselman in Round 6, Pick 21 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
